The Meditative Rose
Oil on Canvas Paper,
16.0" x 12.0"
2015

Based on Salvador Dali's The Meditative  Rose, an image of a red rose over the desert, I had painted a white rose losing its red into the sea.

A friend had taught me a meditation technique of laying still while listening to recordings of nature's white noise. I had been listening to sounds of waves crashing against rocks and feeling tensions leaving me.

My favourite colour is red and it symbolizes the intensity and drama of life. These days I find myself seeking refuge in what is quiet and understated.
